Cold emails got me 3 leads + 1 Job in the last 7 days

Hi Creator,

This is John Naveen, welcome to the 2nd edition of my weekly newsletter “30 Minutes Ghostwriter“.

Before we get started, let’s recap what we learned last week.

Last week, I shared about “How I got my 1st Ghostwriting client“ on LinkedIn. Most of you loved it & some of you told me that “The newsletter indirectly told us that posting just 10 days will bring you leads.“

I want to make it clear that “Getting Inbound leads is something that you can’t control!

Some of you will get leads in 5 days, some in 10 days, or 30 days. Sometimes it will take a couple of months.

Hence, it depends upon your service & audience you have.

But there’s another way to get leads, where you can control the amount of leads you get.

That’s called “Cold Outreach“.

I know it may sound boring, but you will think “Cold emails are dead“.

But the reality is, “Cold Outreach works best & gives you the desired results when you target the right prospect, in the right way!“

Let me explain it in detail for you:

Cold email can be broken down into 4 steps:

1/ Understanding the prospect.

2/ Finding the prospect.

3/ Choosing the right platform/software.

4/ Sending the cold emails.

First, let’s have a look at “Understanding the Prospect “.

→ This is the important stage in the Cold Outreach process where you research your prospect, their pain points, & what steps they took to overcome it.

→ The more you know about a prospect’s pain points, the higher your chances of converting them into a client.

In order to understand your prospect & their pain points, you can check out Quora, Reddit, etc.

Once you understand the prospect, it’s time to “Find them!“

→ Potential prospects are available everywhere on the internet.

→ You can find them on LinkedIn, Twitter, Discord, Facebook Groups, etc.

Now comes the important part, “Choosing the right platform & software“

There are different ways to send cold DMs.

You can use LinkedIn, Twitter, Lemlist, Apollo, etc.

I use LinkedIn DMs a lot because most of my prospects hang out on LinkedIn.

If you are using LinkedIn or Twitter to send cold DMs, don’t automate the process you will be restricted by the platforms.

But if you prefer cold emails, I suggest you use “Lemlist“ & “Apollo“, because I’ve used these 2 tools for my clients & got the results.

These tools are easy to use & they also offer free training for that.

And the last step is, “Outreaching!“

There are 2 ways to do this:

1/ Mass emails.

2/ Specific & Limited emails.

I won’t be covering “Mass emails” because honestly, I don’t use them.

(It’s sending 20,000 to 30,000 emails per month & hoping leads would convert.)

Let me share the 2nd way:

→ It’s targeting specific people(like 300 - 1000 per month) & personalizing each message according to them.

Here’s the cold message I sent to Vedika(India’s one of the Top LinkedIn creators) on Instagram.

Cold DM sent to Vedika

You can see how I personalized it, that’s why I got a reply.

Remember: Your prospects are busy people, so make it personalized before you send the message.

Important tip: Always stick to 50 - 100 cold DMs per day.

Note: This guy has 300K followers on Instagram

And that’s how you send cold emails that give you the results you need.

With that, I’m concluding this week’s newsletter.

See you next Saturday!
